Carp are grown in ponds, with or without the addition of extra feed. There is little to no wild fish in the carp feed. The cultivation in ponds has little impact on the environment, even though the culture water is discharged into the surface water.

 

General

Carp

The European carp is a large fresh water fish that can become up to 40 years and 140 cm long. The species is native to Asia and Europe. Carp are characterised by its four barbels. In the Netherlands, carp is not very popular for consumption.
